the mission

perfct imperfect’s mission is to build a community of strong, empowered women by breaking down the barriers that keep us isolated from each other and feeling alone, fighting those forces with open, honest, vulnerable discussions of our own experiences, embracing our perfectly imperfect humanness along the way.

perfct imperfect’s mission is built on four core pillars. Check ‘em out below!

Four Pillars

  1. Be Community

We’re here to be community, together. You are not alone. You belong here.

From the community you build and experience here, the hope and dream is you take agency in your day-to-day life and build and strengthen communities there, too. You are a powerful force for relationship building; use this superpower to bring more people together. No one deserves to be alone. Everyone deserves to belong someplace.

2. Celebrate

Life is full of reasons to celebrate. The usual suspects like birthdays, weddings, holidays, and new babies are obvious targets. But what about the everyday? I believe the often-overlooked events–sometimes masquerading only as small, personal victories–like making it through a really rough week at work, publishing a new blog post, mastering counting 1 through 10, or, my personal favorite, just being you, deserve celebrating just as much as the “big” holidays.

I love marking all these occasions with little, thoughtful gestures, unexpected surprises, and a big dose of fun and whimsy. Here, we make space for celebrating the everyday. Here, we make space for intentional joy.

3. We are all imperfect
We are all loved

We are all human. I am human. You are human. So treat others as human.

As humans, we are all perfectly imperfect. And yet, we are all loved. We are all enough, just as we are. As we extend this grace and kindness to ourselves, we must extend it to others.

4. Audaciously Explore + Respectfully Debate to Uncover Real Truths without Unleashing Shame

Being perfectly imperfect, I am not going to get everything I write right. I am, however, committed to audaciously exploring my own and others’ experiences and countless topics. I’m committed to perpetually learning, listening to you, and openly admitting when I make a mistake.

I’m up for respectful debates. I hope you are, too. However, to protect a community founded on honesty and openness, know that slander, name-calling, spewing false accusations, and other disrespectful, unkind behaviors have no place here. Exploiting another’s vulnerability will not be tolerated.

My goal is not to be an unachievable vision of perfection. My goal is to uncover real truths, with you, my community, without unleashing shame. To borrow Brené Brown’s mantra: “I’m here to get it right, not to be right.”
